Blogs are great - just remember, this one is solely the opinion of the author...me...so this is why I, Crystal Casavant think that 50 Shades is so popular. It explains a lifestyle in a way you can understand. Whether you agree with a dominant/submissive style relationship or not, it is written from the point of view of someone who has no relationship experience, no experience as a dominant or a submissive, and it walks you through her fact finding and emotional journey. It is a love story about a woman who thinks that she can change a man. Yup...been there done that...and it's about being attracted to someone and wanting to know what makes them tick, trying to find out how you'll fit into the equation. It is also a story about another sort of lifestyle many of us may never experience. I guess I've never dated someone who picked me up for dinner in a helicopter or private jet. It's fun to dream about how others live. A boyfriend who buys you a car because he's concerned about your safety - it's a different way to show affection, and many of us admittedly would be moved by the gesture.
I don't think it's smut and for what it's worth - I think it is well written and has an easy to read storyline and fun characters.
On that note - may your paths be abundantly filled with lemons, sugar, sunshine, and romance!

Aside from all the smut it is a fantastic love story.
