"My Name is Wonder" book review by Penny Harrison

Thank you to WOW! Women on Writing ,Penny Harrison, Ronald Chapman, and Artotems for today's post! Having loved the last book I read by this talented writer, I was excited to start this new novel and I was not disappointed. The story found in these pages is one of adventure and wonderment as the reader follows the trek of Wonder, a wise-beyond-his-year’s goat, as he discovers who he was meant to be. Not content with his simple life on the farm, this brave young kid lives up to his title and wonders if there is more for him to see. Along the way we meet Wonder’s supportive family, wise mentor, the cackling crow that becomes his guide, and more – both friends and foes alike. In Ronald’s writing, as I have grown to appreciate, we are transported to the fields, brooks, and mountains through wildly vivid imagery. As you travel with Wonder, you can almost hear the water rushing over the rocks in the stream and hear the call of the crow overhead. It is an escape in to the wilderne...

Obsession

I remember thinking that I just needed a little more green paint. That was right before I felt the tingle at the base of my spine. It felt like someone was watching me as I painted. I turned to check my surroundings and nearly tripped over a very large man with gorgeous green eyes. He was attractive, but I was annoyed and gave him a look to tell him as much. He smiled and gave me a nod before walking away. I had been commissioned to paint a mermaid on a yacht. I had done that, and more…I created a topless mermaid with black hair, hazel eyes, full breasts, and a tail that reminded me of the ocean. She was a permanent resident of the vessel they called Obsession; the yacht was a 300 some foot Lurssen whose owners were paying me a handsome sum to paint her. I didn’t ask questions. After the first ten hour day working on her, I decided to give her a name. I called her Claire Aslin meaning bright future. Claire and I shared many moments together during the three weeks it took me to ge...

Calling All Writers!

Greetings from the shores of Lake Michigan! It is a lovely morning with sunshine, a light breeze off the lake, birds chirping, and fresh brewed coffee with just the right amount of vanilla creamer. This peace and piece of mind brought forth an idea. So many people have stories and they don't have a place to share them. So...here's the idea: I am actively seeking guest writers/bloggers who would like to share their stories. Do you have a lemony story to share? A time when life gave you lemons and you turned them into the sweetest tasting lemonade? Do you have a poem about life's trials, love, misfortune, struggles, and a happy ending? Contact me directly at: crystal@relaxconsulting, or casavantcrystal@gmail.com and I'd be happy to take a look at your work. If it fits with the Bring On Lemons 'mantra', you could be a featured guest author! Don't wait, we all have a story to tell:  http://ezinearticles.com/?Every-Life-Is-a-Story-Worth-Telling&id=69372...
