WOW! Women on Writing blog tour of "Fling!" by Lily Iona MacKenzie (review by Linda Juul) and GIVEAWAY

Thank you to WOW! Women on Writing for asking us to participate in this awesome tour! REVIEW by guest blogger Linda Juul This book has scatterings of Scottish and Indian superstitions woven throughout it. Feather (who changed her name from a family name of Heather) is an old hippie. At one time she lived in a commune and named her son Weed. Now she leads a more conventional life, although she still dresses in somewhat of a hippie style. One day her mother, Bubbles, gets a letter saying that after 70 years someone has found her mothers’ ashes and they want to return them to her. So Feather and Bubbles embark on a journey from Canada to Mexico City to claim the long lost ashes of Bubbles’ mother who ran away when Bubbles was a young girl. She can’t wait to be reunited with her mother. Bubbles will be celebrating her 90th birthday, she may be 90 but she certainly doesn’t think like a 90 year old woman. She has a boyfriend at her senior living center but he’s rather boring. She’s...

Otters By Carmen Otto

Picture by Carmen J. Otto How would it feel like if you could stay under water for 8 or 10 minutes? All Otters grow to be 6 feet tall. Otter’s fur is usually black, brown, or white. Otters can weigh 44-82 pounds. Otters like to wrestle with other Otters. The Otter is one of the most playful animals on earth. Otters live in North America. Some live in South America, some live in Asia, and some live in Africa. They live in rivers and on the coasts of the Pacific Ocean. Otters are carnivores. This means they eat meat. Otters always hunt alone. Mostly they catch water animals. Fish are their favorite but they also like crayfish, frogs, and bugs. They like to hunt on land for little mammals like birds. Did you know Otters were mammals? I know I didn’t know that! The main groups of Otters are river Otters, sea Otters, and giant Otters! There are all kinds of Otters! I learned a lot about Otters. Otters are interesting animals! Photo Courtesy of Olivia Brey & ...

Shared Post - Carly Woods shares: "4 Overnight Beauty Products You Should be Using"

4 Overnight Beauty Products You Should be Using by   CarlyWoods   When it comes to beauty sleep, I think we generally fall into two categories; those who have managed 8 hours of sleep a night and those who haven’t. For the ones who haven’t, they consequently have to do a darn good job faking it. So, why does this happen? Simply put, sleep is an essential component to an effective  skin care  regimen, a time when our skin heals and repairs itself. Therefore, if you’re not getting enough sleep, your skin may start to suffer. If you need help utilizing the small number of hours you do get or you want to ensure you are stretching your 8 hours as far as they can go, you need the right tools. There are specific night time products that can work in harmony with your skin’s renewal process. More than not, these products will be heavier and thicker consistencies. For this reason, washing your face in the morning is equally as important as washing it at night ...

Guest Blogger, Carmen Casavant

Carmen Casavant, Today's Guest Blogger Today's Guest Blogger is my daughter, Carmen Casavant. She knew that her picture was featured in my recent blog for WOW! Women on Writing , and I read her the blog. Her response was "so that's why you always ask me about my dreams" and we immediately started talking about our journals. Her journal is a little different than mine, because she is in kindergarten and is just learning how to write. Her journal contains lots of words, a few sentences, and lots and lots of pictures. This is how she journals (for now).  I told her that we should feature some of her pictures and stories on my blog, and she thought that would be a great idea. So here, is what she came up with from last night's dream. Enjoy! xoxo ~Crystal Saving the Princess There was a big green dragon. Dragons aren't real, but sometimes I dream about them. The dragon took the princess. My mom was the princess. I had a big long sword and I ...

Guest Blogger - Sarah Eiden's Article: "New Plans For Your New Year - Reviewing Your Business and Setting Goals"

New Plans For Your New Year - Reviewing Your Business and Setting Goals By  Sarah Eiden For many who work from home, the fall/holiday season is when their biggest sales are made. You'll be busy servicing customers... but after the holidays bustle, take some time for a work from home retreat. As the new year approaches, it is a great time to re-evaluate your business plans. Taking time now to look at your home business and set goals can help your business blossom in the coming year. Ask yourself - - Why are you in business? - What is actually making you money? DO MORE of it! - What is going well in your business? - What needs change? - What level of success do you want to accomplish? - What baby steps will you take to get there? - Are there "time wasters" that are eating into the time you can be focusing on making money? Please do not just read through these questions and do the "yeah, yeah". You are investing in yourself. Take the ...

Are We Really That Stressed? (by guest blogger Maria Hammel)

I love getting emails from other authors asking if they can be a guest on the blog - and today is one of those days that makes me smile...because one of their stories is being published - check out the great blog story below, by Maria Hammel! (Thanks for the submission Maria!) Are We Really That Stressed? by Maria Hammel During the holiday season, I quite frequently hear on the news experts giving advice on reducing the “stress of the holidays”.  I’ve seen magazine article after magazine article about ways to handle the stress of our busy lives.  But what I never see is advice on changing the way we perceive what is going on around us.  Maybe we need to alter our perception of our world so that what is going on in your life is not stressful.  After all, aren’t things like the holiday season things we are suppose to enjoy?  Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that stress does not exist.  We all have busy lives, between jobs, kids, and the occ...
