She is a lucid dreamer, someone who is aware of when she is dreaming and can use this awareness to create her own dreamworlds. Marin creates a world where her memories can't follow her and she can leave her grief behind. When she begins to heal, she realizes she can no longer control her dream, and it turns to a nightmare.
