Motivation Monday #1 - 2025; get back on that horse! (figuratively)

Last Thursday felt like the first Monday of the new year - alas, it was not! Today is the big day! I try to do something wonderful each Monday to help me look forward to instead of dread Monday. Today I shall start with coffee at one of my favorite shops, a trip to the gym, and then off to work. This will all happen after the rousing of children, folding of laundry, cleaning of the house, and chauffeuring of the children (and don't forget the brewing and drinking of coffee, and the negotiating that happens on the way to school as a way to lesson a sibling disagreement).

Mondays were intended to be a day to discuss what motivates me. As someone who packed on the pounds the last quarter of 2024 (stress, lack of will power, medications, etc...) I can tell you my current motivation is the fact that if I don't do something immediately I am going to need to donate my entire wardrobe and start all over again. And it's not because my clothes are too large - there is nothing in my drawers or closet that properly fits my current level of curvy-ness.

Instead of me telling you about what works and what doesn't - how about you tell me? I'm clearly no expert on health and wellness as I longingly admire my size 7 jeans and wonder if they'll ever see the light of day or if they're destined for the donate bin.

How did I get so off track?

Why do I eat my feelings (I could write them down - duh...content instead of calories)?

What works to keep you fit and motivated?

What advice do you have?

Bonus points if you can tell me your hacks for making delicious coffee shoppe flavored drinks that won't mess up my daily calorie count - or a suggested app that doesn't suck? I tried NOOM but I honestly do not have that kind of time...

There you have it - our first motivation monday of the year and it's yet another rambling post - but it's authentic. My bras are too tight, I'm uncomfortable in my own skin, and I can't comfortably button my coat.

HELP MOTIVATE ME PLEASE?

May your paths be abundantly filled with lemons, sunshine, and calorie free sugar?

Here's me at the gym...

You Can Speak Your Mind, But Not On My Time?

Today's post title is inspired by the fabulous song that is likely going through your head right now "I still belong, don't get me wrong, you can speak your mind but not on my time...you can live your life, but this is my life..."etc... The topic however is inspired by a dear friend who recently said to me "why is it so hard for people to be real and have a conversation about things they disagree with?" I've been thinking about that queestion and the conversation that it inspired - what she was really talking about is feedback. Why is it so difficult to tell someone that you'd like them to do something differently? We beat around the bush, and sometimes never say what's on our mind. Isn't this really the rooot cause of relationship problems? The cause of dating mis-haps, family arguements, and the underlying issue that often results in anger and fighting? Before you answer, let me toss out some scenarios: 1) You're dating someone ...

Natural Remedies for Depression ?

Have you had those moments when you weren't feeling quite like yourself? Those negative thoughts were creeping in? clouding your judgment? making every day chores seem like amazing feats of heroism? If you've never felt like that - good for you! I on the other hand struggle with life's ups and downs. From depression during my divorce to post-partum depression, etc... I tend to be a very happy and optimistic person, but the flip side of that coin brings those days when staying in bed is more alluring than hopping in the shower and going through the motions of the day. There are some fabulous medications on the market today, and seeking the help of a healthcare professional is always a great idea. Sometimes I'm not feeling depressed, but I fear I'm headed there. I don't particularly care for some of the side effects of medications I have been on in the past, and a natural remedy can sometimes give me just the kick in the pants that I need to 'get happy...
