Fit Friday #3 - 2025 Shoes - the topic of today's discussion: why are the right shoes important?

Have you ever worn the wrong shoes? There's a few items in my wardrobe that seem directly connected to the epicenter of my mood and shoes are absolutely one of those items. Wear the wrong shoes, the entire day is ruined. Now, the real key to happiness is finding cute shoes that are also comfortable. You 20-somethings who are thinking fashion, that is not what this old lady is talking about. I'm not talking about a pair of heels that take off ten pounds - I'm talking about something I can wear to an office, chasing a child, carrying 8 bags of groceries, and something that will hold up under the pressures of motherhood.

My aunt Dorothe could wear heels and push a baby stroller wearing a freshly ironed dress and look amazing! I however, am from a different generation. We have things like dry shampoo, tide pens, and running shoes. I get cranky if my shoes are too narrow or my hair tie is too tight and the women of previous generations wore corsets - we are not the same.

If you're here because you think I have the key to shoes, you will be sadly mistaken - I have a lot of shoes, however I have not found the key. Rather, I'm here to see what you all know. I love Brooks shoes for the gym, Ugg clogs for wearing with leggings, Birkenstock sandals for the summer, and I honestly haven't found something that I love love love for dress shoes. I will throw on pretty sandals in the summer and they don't seem to suck - but in the winter I just find myself dressing casually because I don't want to smash my feet into uncomfortable footwear. Do you wear tall boots and if you do, do you wear them inside or outside of your pants? Wedges?

I mean - we live where the air hurts my face - is it even possible to look cute and be comfortable? What's the best option? I know...just stay home until summer, but that doesn't seem realistic either.

HELP!!!!

Today's post was penned by Crystal J. Casavant

Crystal Casavant writes. Everything. If you follow her blog you have likely laid eyes on every thought she has ever had. Her debut novel, It Was Never About Me, Was It? is still a work in progress and shall be fully worthy sometime in 2025. She has written for WOW! Women on Writing, Bring on Lemons, and has been featured in several magazines and ezines relating to credit and collections as well as religious collections for confessional Lutherans. She runs a busy household full of intelligent, recalcitrant, and delightful humans who give her breath and keep her heart beating day after day.

Crystal wears many hats (and not just the one in this photo) and fully believes in being in the moment and doing everything she can to improve the lives of those around her! The world may never know her name, but she prays that because of her, someone may smile a little brighter. She prides herself on doing nice things - yes, even for strangers!

May your paths be abundantly filled with lemons, sugar, sunshine, and may you always remember the world is a better place with you in it and it's way better when your shoes fit and your ponytail isn't too tight!

You Can Speak Your Mind, But Not On My Time?

Today's post title is inspired by the fabulous song that is likely going through your head right now "I still belong, don't get me wrong, you can speak your mind but not on my time...you can live your life, but this is my life..."etc... The topic however is inspired by a dear friend who recently said to me "why is it so hard for people to be real and have a conversation about things they disagree with?" I've been thinking about that queestion and the conversation that it inspired - what she was really talking about is feedback. Why is it so difficult to tell someone that you'd like them to do something differently? We beat around the bush, and sometimes never say what's on our mind. Isn't this really the rooot cause of relationship problems? The cause of dating mis-haps, family arguements, and the underlying issue that often results in anger and fighting? Before you answer, let me toss out some scenarios: 1) You're dating someone ...

Natural Remedies for Depression ?

Have you had those moments when you weren't feeling quite like yourself? Those negative thoughts were creeping in? clouding your judgment? making every day chores seem like amazing feats of heroism? If you've never felt like that - good for you! I on the other hand struggle with life's ups and downs. From depression during my divorce to post-partum depression, etc... I tend to be a very happy and optimistic person, but the flip side of that coin brings those days when staying in bed is more alluring than hopping in the shower and going through the motions of the day. There are some fabulous medications on the market today, and seeking the help of a healthcare professional is always a great idea. Sometimes I'm not feeling depressed, but I fear I'm headed there. I don't particularly care for some of the side effects of medications I have been on in the past, and a natural remedy can sometimes give me just the kick in the pants that I need to 'get happy...
